Perth Game Fishing Club held its annual general meeting on the evening of 15th December. In his address to the meeting President Peter Coote outlined the initiatives to be introduced immediately to further expand on member benefits.
Expansion of the Club Championship awards to include captures and tag and release of game fish species throughout the state will be introduced from 1st January on a trial basis until 30th June. Following the trial it will become a permanent feature of club scoring through the 2022 club year beginning on 1st July.
The second initiative is to hold all competitions as club events which will encourage membership and also mean that prizes and awards go to club members rather than those who may be attending from another club. Tournaments will be run on a low or no entry fee basis beginning with the Marlin Cup to be held off Rottnest Island on 6th and 7th February.
As a further benefit to members who are keen to go to exotic and far flung reaches, the Club is organising charters for groups of members to destinations in our north and perhaps to other states and event. The first of these to be inked in is to Scott Reef where big sailfish, dog tooth tune, wahoo, GTs and all other manner of fish present a feast of fishing opportunities.
A Special Resolution to change the Club’s Constitution was unanimously supported. As soon as is has been agreed to by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, it will become effective and will appear on this website. The CLub’s financial and competition year has been changed to 1st July to 30th June.
A new Committee was elected who were are pleased to say are very keen to move the club forward after a difficult year.
